The Saga of the Ironic Name - Site Overview

Ubiquitous materialized on July 11th, 2007 as a personal website.  A few months later, it went amok because I couldn’t decide what content to put on it.  I’m no niche blogger, because as the configuration of my room (or the lack of) will surely reveal, I can’t focus on one arrangement for long.  For now, it will be everything that perk my interest, and that in my opinion, would perk yours too. Thank you Lene for hosting me!

The One Called Crystal - Blogger Overview

Called: Crystal

Location: West Coast Canada, where it’s probably raining right now OR East Coast USA, where it’s probably snowing right now

Education: Public elementary schools, mini-school, pre-IB, IB, Cornell

Career: Aspiring dictator

The last time I talked about myself, thoroughly talked about myself, I was in a cramped counsellor’s room staring at three grim-faced teachers who were trying to decide my academic future. My mother was sitting in the corner shooting furtive glances at me - for god-forbid I fail to mention receiving that gold star for good behaviour in grade six. Turns out, whatever those grim faces decided for me didn’t matter much, for I changed schools after staying there for a year. Vancouver

That’s pretty much the epitome of my life thus far: changing, constantly changing schools. I moved around quite a lot. My nomadic life due to my immigrant family’s struggle to find that better place. From the frigid Torontonian winter to the biting ice storms of London Ontario, we’ve experienced it all. That “better place” turned out to be a city a few provinces to the west: Vancouver, British Columbia. In Vancouver, it rains two thirds of the year. Its surrounding areas are so close to sea level, that a tsunamis , will turn the metropolitan into an island.

Aside from outrageous gas and property prices, Vancouver is the place where I truly found myself, as one usually do somewhere in high school. I’m a splash of sunlight when my inner bright spirit decides to shine. I’m a cheetah ready to pounce when you try to cross me more than once. I’m the girl sitting in the lunch circle poring over a chemistry book, only to look up occasionally and make a witty comment so full of sexual innuendo that a moment of silence ensues before my group of beloved friends burst into laughter. So that’s Crystal, lovable, random, and graceful if she can help it.
