Becoming Jane
Posted on August 10th, 2007 in Friday Flicks |

At a friend’s insistence, I went to see Becoming Jane last weekend. There was only one theatre playing it and it was all the way on the other side of town. I liked the movie quite a bit, and couldn’t help writing a parody for the romance. Yes this contains quite a bit of spoilers, but you know how all these stories end! I was very giddy at the HP cast: Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley) as Jane’s mother, and Maggie Smith (McGonagall) as Lady Gresham. Jane Austen was played by none other than the lovely Anne Hathaway. The movie paled a bit in comparison to Pride and Prejudice, ah well, the author never seems to be as interesting as her writing.
(Oh and an added bonus to the movie, Tom LeFroy is played by the same guy who plays Mr. Tumnus the goat on The Chronicle of Narnia, so I pretty much spent half the movie wondering where I’ve seen him before and why I keep imagining snow and lots of fur when I try to remember…)
On a sidenote, if you Last.FM, this list of tools would come in handy! I’ve also added a button board for your plugging pleasure!
