Cashmere Mafia
Posted on February 23rd, 2008 in Fashion, Review |
Yep, that’s what I’m watching on Stage6 when I’m not blogging.

If I haven’t mentioned it already, I’m a huge TV watcher. Before school and all that stress came along, I knew the days in my week by what show was on TV. Survivor, Big Brother, The Bachelor, For Love or For Money, Friends, Everybody Loves Raymond, House, the list goes on. What I didn’t know was that my love of fashion and TV sitcoms can come together in the newest show to hit ABC: Cashmere Mafia.
The show blurb describes it self as “A group of successful female executives who have been friends since college turn to each other for guidance as they juggle their careers with family in New York City.”. You can see a preview here. I admit, I got hooked on the preview because Lucy Liu was in it. Then I saw all the stunning clothes these ladies put on, they’re absolutely gorgeous.
I have to also admit that the plot is nothing totally new and it competes directly with the other new release Lipstick Jungle (there’s a whole controversy on how the creators of these two shows were once very close friends and then… fall out). However, I like the close friendship these ladies share and the producers’ attempts to at least portray somewhat realistic scenarios in the high corporate business world in New York. People have called Cashmere Mafia “Sex and the City for the thinking women”, and it couldn’t be more true.

Its hard to get into TV shows here. Aussie TV makes a big deal and say how this is a US smash hit and it will blow us away. Then they screen 2 episodes and cancel them or move them to late night TV.
I’m not much of a tv person, unless it involves trashy reality shows and Project Runway. And I also hate all these Sex and the City type of shows (unless it’s the L Word, that’s my shiz). Lucy Liu is in it so I *may* give it a peek because I like her.
I’ve seen a promo for the show and I was like ‘OMG LUVY LIU!’ lol. I didn’t end up watching it, since my TV schedule is already much too filled. I can’t keep up with another show :P.
I never bothered watching this show. It did look interesting at the time but I generally don’t like Sex and the City type things.
Cashmere Mafia is awesome. Caitlin and Zoe are the best.
Lipstick Jungle is also good. After the first ep I wasn’t convinced but it got better which is usually the case with most shows.
Another good one is Big Shots. It’s pretty much the same as CM and LJ but with men instead of women. I only started watching it because of my future husband Michael Vartan and then it turned out to be good. :p
I’ve seen previews in Youtube and it seems like a good show, but it isn’t being aired here yet! Woe is me.
I’ve heard of this show, but I really didn’t know anything about it until now. The preview looks pretty good; too bad I don’t have all that much time to watch tv. I used to have a tv schedule and everything until school/homework/extracurriculars got in the way. Now I just watch tv sporadically. Obviously I still waste time online, though.
I hardly follow tv shows because I get bored after a while, I do watch a lot of movies though.
hmm the show sounds interesting but i dont really know if i could get into it.i generally dont watch those types of shows.
I’m not really into Tv other than American Idol and Grey’s Anatomy. LOL. I haven’t even heard of this show to be honest. It doesn’t seem like something that will hold my interest though, I might check it out.
Ive never actually seen that show, though I have heard of it and I heard it is supposed to be good. I should start watching it really.
Oh…I’ve never seen any of those shows. Maybe they’ll arrive on my side of the world in a year?! LOL and I ditched my cable. Too much to watch, no time to watch it!
Hey Crystal, I just tagged you on my recent blog!
