Guess where?
// May 29th, 2008 // Personal
You may be wondering what’s with all the China-related posts lately, well, the surprise is out, I’m in Beijing! I got here earlier this week and will be staying for a month.
So, any questions for me about the city/country? Want to check if your site works in China?
I’m in a web cafe XD. Mum’s rushing, gotta dash.

How’s the pollution? I’ve heard it’s usually horrible, especially when it gets warm.
Hehe, I wonder if my site is blocked there. Lord knows I have SUCH anti-Chinese material, right?
@Arielle - I’ve only seen the blue sky once this week, kinda sad. Your site isn’t blocked =D
Be sure to get us some pictures of the sand storms!
Haha awesome! Is mine blocked!?
If I go and make a big blog post that says “China is a Poo” will they block me!? Teehee!
Oh my goodness… Why in the world are you in China?!? (By the way, can you read my blog there???)
@ Erik - I’m so shocked how green Beijing and this other place I’ve been to were. Guess that blocked out the sandstorms
@ Holly - Not blocked =D I think you’d have better luck if you join the Tibetan terrorists =OO
@ Jamie - I was born there silly! The place will always be home in a sense. Your site isn’t loading but isn’t blocked, i think my computer is a bit slow today.
You’re so lucky you can go back to China this year. I don’t think there’s any chance of me going back to Shanghai, since the plane tickets are so expensive.
Hope you’re having fun though
Wow. I’m surprised you can blog, my friend went there and couldn’t get around the Great Firewall of China, lol. Out of curiosity, is my site blocked?
Hope you’re having fun! Is it, like, REALLY busy what with millions of people running around, doing their thing? Are there buildings on buildings? I can’t imagine there would be lots of parks…? What’s public transport like? Are you going to travel around the country? What’s the impact of the earthquakes? (sorry for all the questions!!)
And, randomly, do you speak chinese?
Can you tell I’d love to go to China one day?! Or, you know, anywhere in Asia, I’ve never really been to Asia (two days in Bangkok don’t count on a stopover.) Ooh, and Japan, that would be nice.

That’s awesome! How does it feel to be back in China? I hope you have a great time. I want to go back to my home country soon but I’m not going this year
. I haven’t been to Lebanon in 11 years!
You have no idea how jealous I am right now…
I see that you’re chilling with the long yan and li zhi.
Must be pretty cool to have a foreign background like that. I take it you are Chinese, that is? Having always lived in America, where most people have very limited national ties, makes one curious of such things… I guess. I have a certain taste towards the genealogical and the philological, which brings me to another question, I’d be curious to know, do you speak Chinese? Because I don’t know anything at all about their language/culture etc…so why did I ask that again??? oh w/e
BTW, it looks like everyone else is asking this too so…can you access my blog from China? lol
Hmm, I wouldn’t expect my blog / server IP to be blocked by China. But… we never know.
@ Just a Girl - Nope, your site isn’t blocked. Public transport here is amazing. Every bus in Beijing has two or three flatscreen TVs that has news or sports playing on it at all times. There’s a all-access metrocard that you scan when you get on and off, so they charge you for the distance (usually 0.40 yuan, which is 6 cents US). Earthquake news is playing on TV every day. I keep crying whenever they do these sentimental moments. My apartment complex has two parks in front of it. I’ve been to three provinces already. Yes, of course I speak Chinese haha. I think the Great Firewall website was BS, because I tried several of China’s most popular sites, and it stupidly said they were blocked!
@ Jonathan - Yes I’m fluent in Mandarin Chinese =D Your site is fine.
Wow, you’re in China? That’s really cool! I didn’t know you were going there; I guess you wanted to surprise us. (Otherwise this wouldn’t be much of a “guess where?” blog, would it?) That’s awesome that you’re going to be there for a whole month; I hope you have a great time while you’re there.
Public transport sounds incredible there, from what you wrote in response to Jonathan. That’s amazing how nice the buses are. Public transport around me is practically nonexistent. x.x
Have you encountered many blocked sites? Does mine work? Lol.
eep! photos! the masses want photos of your trip
Be safe and have a great trip!! Take lots of photos too.
Take LOTS of pictures.
