The Harry Potter era has finally come to a close with the release of the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I finished reading it less than half an hour ago. It is absolutely brilliant. I love it. Despite the fact that many, many people died, it has now become my favourite book in the series. Many of my suspicions were confirmed, others, thrown out the window. I was left sitting there with my mouth wide open on a plot twist on more than one occasion.
I trust I’m not alone in saying that I giggled throughout the entire Epilogue? For us shippers, it was THE book to oogle over. Hand holding. Hugs. Kisses. Tantrums. Cute moments. Marriages. Heh, I won’t give away too much. I kept a log as I was reading, which looks like “6:17am - I CAN NOT BELIEVE HE JUST DID THAT”. I wanted to have a little record of how I felt while reading HPDH for the first time. To be uploaded soon. Read the log!
If I had to use a single word to describe Deathly Hallows, it would be “epic”. Harry’s journey is heart-warming and heart-wrenching; glorious and tragic. Some parts of the situation in the Magical community reminded me of the pre-Holocaust period.
The ending, in my opinion, will be highly satisfactory for most fans. We get the ENTIRE back story regarding Dumbledore, Godric’s Hollow, and Snape. Ah yes… Snape. I can only say that I was absolutely 100% right about him. J. K. Rowling has quite the knack for filling out back stories, the one regarding Snape especially (although some parts of the book seems to be ripped off of Fanfiction.net, or maybe it’s just the shock
)… Snape, and his Best Friend Forever. It’s so sad and shocking at the same time. His patronus just showed how much he cared. Oops, getting side-tracked here…
The importance of magical creature and their relationship with witches and wizards was heavily emphasized in this book (tragic, in some parts). You will see many old faces that leave you pleasantly surprised. The repetitive images (motorbike, for example) are striking and though-provoking. You’ll get what I mean. Also, I was very happy that humor was never lost throughout the book!
And my final words? J. K. Rowling is an absolute genius. Her meticulous planning and skilled writing produced a series that will no doubt maintain its legendary status in decades to come.
Now, excuse me while I go start my Support Potter Party,

Ironically, the romance was the only part I didn’t like.
wow you already finished it? that was fast =D
I went to the release party last night, got home at 4am all tired, and now I woke up still all tired
I bought HBP last night too, becaue I haven’t read it (shame…haha) but I’ll get to it these days!
Nice job on your review! ^I’d like to finish reading the series (I stopped after book 4), but instead I think I’ll just look up some spoilers about what happens in this book.
It’s sad that a series so many people loved came to an end. Hopefully JK Rowling will keep writing, and whatever else she comes up with will be as top-notch as Harry Potter.
I wikipediaed the summary plotline. Seems interesting, so I might read that book next year when I have the time (by then, I’d forgot most of the small details I’ve read now). Haha. I still have to finish my 800-page Middlemarch book. English sucks at times.
But yeah, I totally agree with the thing that Rowling is an ingenious writer. Small details really create a book.
Oh yes Wikipedia *checks the ending*
I have to say that it’s amazing that Harry Potter has become a long lasting series with fans everywhere and lots of imagination for those who have read the books (beyond all that, fanfiction, etc, etc.) or just seen the movies (like myself) I think it’s been a great contribution by JK Rowling.
I wonder if she’ll go ahead and spend some time spending her huge fortune–now that she has some time off!
Nice review!
Unfortunately, I stopped reading in the middle of book three, I found the books a little boring. (I know! I’m evil!)
But I loved all the movies, so maybe now that I’m a little older I may pick ‘em up and try again
I actually haven’t read the book and really don’t intend to, either. I’ve read the rest, but I’m quite content with someone just telling me how the series ended. I guess I never really got caught up in how the book went.
I watched the Order of the Phoenix movie. *Bad* idea. Horrible movie, in my opinion.
Either way, you read the book quickly. Damn. I don’t even think I read that fast.
Thanks for the comment on Fallen Rose.
I hope you had fun reading it. Your comments about the book were very interesting to read.
You have made me wish that I kept a journal while reading the book, it would have made it 10 times easier to write the review that I was planning to write at the end.
I loved the book. I love Harry/Ginny but they named their children all after dead people, which is a bit confusing at first and the poor child that is called Albus Severus.
did harry die my book store is sold out of them so i need to no lol i read all the books except this one i think that the books give a better thrill scene in your head it just is better to pick up the book and portray it in your mind lol i think of it that way but did he die?
ahh i could never get into this whole hp crazy..although i havent tried too. now roseanne and the golden girls…love love love them women, lol.
I so loved HP and The Deathly Hallows!
Snape and Lily… my gosh :yummy:
I think it was a little repetitive with the Salvio Hexia and the Protego Totalum thingy.
But I have to say it was an outstanding book.
 I have loved Harry Potter since the beginning. I’ve been trying to find this in Audio book format, but havent yet
I know this is a an old blog, but i just wanted to add how much I agree with you - Deathly Hallows was an amazing book, I thought the twists were impressive and I thought the overall ending as so perfect, so heart warming, haha, my only complaint is there was less blatant romance in the epilogue, but I’m just a sad Harry/Ginny shipper. Haha. But it was a breath-taking novel, definately my favourite in the series, maybe my favourite book of all time, I cannot voice how much I enjoyed reading it
